Happy Monkey Opening Week

Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Michelin-starred chef, has joined the restaurant lineup on Greenwich Avenue, with his new Latin-influenced eatery Happy Monkey. The new restaurant recently opened with a delicious menu of shareable snacks, small and large plates, crudos, salads and tacos featuring locally-sourced seasonal produce.

The decor of the restaurant pays tribute to Frida Kahlo, Mexican artist widely remembered for her self-portraits, pain and passion, and vibrant colors. Khalo’s influence sets the stage for the vibe of this restaurant so much so that the eatery displays a prominent mural featuring the famous Mexican artist and her pet spider monkey.

Happy Monkey is outfitted with moss green banquettes, black and white marble floors, rattan lights and hanging plants that give it a lush feel. Cream venetian plaster and brass accents create a warm and inviting vibe, while select vintage decor adds an eclectic element. I was invited by Nicole Steinthal, an influencer, along with our model friend Cara Gabriella.

The restaurant was packed and the environment was fun and electric. My friend Lois Freedman, President/CEO at Jean-Georges Management brought her whole team last night, in support of Happy Monkey’s grand opening. The food and services were all well received by the customers, including celebrity Judge Judy and her family, who I had the pleasure of sharing great conversation with.

Despite it newly opening, Happy Monkey is already receiving great reviews - many praising the inviting atmosphere, outstanding service, tasty food and beverages, and best of all happy diners excited to try the delectable dishes from the menu.
