The Katonah Connect Launch: Creating Community
Opportunities to support amazing people, work, and art, are lurking around every corner. I was lucky enough to attend an amazing launch event for Katonah Connect at the Katonah Museum of Art. It was a great two-for-one event because not only did we get to celebrate this accomplishment of Gia Miller and Justin Negard, but the museum featured a brilliant new art installation by the Haas brothers.
Katonah Connect was founded by the award winning journalist and writer, Gia Miller. Her work has been featured in Parents, The Washington Post, Healthline, SheKnows, SELF and more! I can so clearly see her passion for storytelling throughout this publication.
Justin Negard, a two-time winner of the International Design Awards, a Best of Westchester winner, and more, teamed up with his Editor in Chief, Gia, as Creative Director to help bring this idea to life. I love seeing these amazing talents come together as I turn the pages of the first Katonah Connect.
They believe that making connections with others is vital to our happiness and success. One of the goals of the magazine is to tell the stories of real people in our towns and create connections, both on the page, and off. This creates community. As I stepped back at this event, that is exactly what I saw. People from the community were brought together. They were networking, connecting, and celebrating a great success. And it could not have been a better setting at the Katonah Museum of Art.
Days before, I met Simon and Nikolai Hass at their opening at the museum. It is simply a beautiful display of “Happiness, Humor, and Human Impulses”. Be sure to see it if you get a chance. It's a little naughty, a little fun, and everything in between. The brothers are known for designing charming, playful furniture and objects inspired by nature, sci-fi, and psychedelia. As you browse the picture or see the collection in person, note the variety of texture and material that make this truly unique.
I loved going out and supporting everything going on here and hope to inspire you to get out there too.
Stay tuned for part two of the weekend. I will be attending the opening Gala at the Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts, featuring Yo Yo Ma.
